Overview

Creating things is one of my favorite things to do. Often times what I’m creating doesn’t matter so much as the act of creation itself.

Yet often I get stuck on figuring out what to create - a phenomenon often called “art block”.

Solution

My solution to this is genspo.xyz - a tool built to provide millions of high quality prompts to riff off of. It works by providing over 6 million open-ended prompts you can start your creation with - so you can skip art block while still providing flexibility to put your own spin on the prompt.

• If you don’t like a specific prompt - just roll another one.
• If you don’t like a specific part of the prompt, that’s okay too - just reroll that specific part.

I’ve been using genspo for prompts for my generative art practice, but I’m sure it’d be equally useful for other creative media - be it drawing, writing, music, performance, etc.
